A tragic incident unfolded in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, as four individuals lost their lives while cleaning a 15-year-old septic tank. According to police reports, three labourers and the landlord's son succumbed to toxic gas inhalation during the cleaning process in the New Mahal area. Local witnesses recounted that each labourer entered the tank sequentially and fell unconscious due to the hazardous fumes, with the landlord's son also fainting while attempting a rescue. Despite efforts, all four were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Viraj Pandey confirmed the incident, stating that the cleaning operation was underway at the residence of Bharat Jaiswal when the tragedy occurred. The District Administration has pledged Rs 4 lakh ex gratia to the families of each deceased individual. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed officials to expedite relief efforts, highlighting the urgent need for measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
